Stärken: What we like most about the 920T is the ability to use it on more than just heavy oil patterns. lt’s much more versatile than its predecessor, the 930T.

Schwächen: As with any high performance bowling ball, lack of oil will force bowlers to put it in the bag and go with something less aggressive. Weaker layouts combined with polish will help those bowling on older lane surfaces.

Insgesamt: The best thing about Track’s naming system is that you get exactly what you expect from the name. The 9 gives us the high performance cover, the gives us a strong asymmetric weight block and the "T" gives us traction in the oil. This is the ball of choice when the 930T is too early and the 920A is too angular.

Comments: With the addition of the 920T to the Track’s high performance line of bowling balls, the company has added their most versatile ball to date to their line. The 920T gives us the same modified LEGGO core from the 920A wrapped inside a new hybrid reactive cover that is unlike other hybrids on the market today. Every other Hybrid cover has been created by mixing a solid with a pearl. With the 920T, Track has taken the HP Gen 2 reactive found in the Uprising and combined it with the HP Gen 3 from the 930T without the mica additive. The mixture of the two totally different covers makes the 920T Track’s first true hybrid cover. The cover and core matchup of the 920T allowed the testers to have their best look on the medium oil test pattern. With big oilers like the 930T, as the ball is used and oil is removed from the heads, energy is lost and hitting power suffers. With the 920T all three testers were able to use the ball on the medium lanes even after testing for around an hour. This tells us that this is a high performance ball that most players should be able to use their entire series on league night. All three testers could play in their respective comfort zones on this pattern, with small moves deeper into the oil pattern to keep the 920T in the pocket as the pattern broke down. Tweener was especially fond of the 920T’s increased movement in the back end, allowing him the room on the lane to either slow his speed and move deeper into the oil or increase the speed and go up the boards without sacrificing any carry. No surface changes were needed on this pattern. Those with lower rev rates will need to adjust the cover when using the 920T on heavy oil. For Stroker we went with a 2000 Abralon finish, which seemed to get the job done. Cranker and Tweener were able to use the box finish due to their medium and high rev rates. Drier patterns will require polish and even then only those with lower rev rates will have much of a reaction. Sport patterns on the medium side will offer the best look for the 920T with its 4000 Abralon finish. More surface will be required on heavily oiled sport patterns.
