Stärken: Everything we loved about the 716C is new and improved with the 7l6C. The control throughout the lane with increased motion makes the 716C shine.

Schwächen: Oil conditions on both ends of the spectrum will have the 7l6C struggling. Too much oil will make it too easy to throw it through the breakpoint; too much friction and the 7l6C will be too much ball.

Insgesamt: The 716C is the much anticipated update to the "7" line of Track products. With a stronger cover and stronger core than the previous "7C" ball, the 7l6C has a strong, controlled, arcing motion through the entire lane.

Comments: As you can tell from all the comparisons, the 7l6C is Track’s replacement of what many considered to be their prime benchmark ball, the 7l5C. The 7l6 C offers a stronger ball reaction in the oil with the new Ump Gen5C solid coverstock. The core was modified slightly from the previous use of the Robot design in the 7l8A. This core/cover combination matched up best with our fresh medium test pattern. While all three testers had an above average look on this pattern, Cranker was especially fond of his reaction. Shots missed right of target recovered back to the pocket consistently. The solid cover let shots missed inside create enough traction to still kick out the corner. Stroker and Tweener had a great reaction but neither had as much area as Cranker could create. As this pattern broke down, Stroker’s and Tweener’s carry improved and none of the three testers needed to make any surface adjustments for the medium pattern. Our reaction on the heavy test pattern was not nearly as good as it was on the medium pattern. All three testers saw extra skid from the pattern and, as a result, the 716C was too sensitive to speed. We removed the polish on all testers’ 7l6C with a 2000 Abralon pad. The additional and earlier hook that provided allowed all three testers to get the ball back to the hole. The short, dry pattern has more hook built into it than the 716C could handle. This ball did not need as much help as our dry pattern offers. We raised the underlying grit to a 4000 Abralon and reapplied a generous amount of Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish. Even with this adjustment, all testers still struggled controlling the ball at the back end. Weaker layouts would help control the motion ofthe 7l6C, but bowlers could just as easily choose a 300C or 503C to combat these types of patterns. The 7l6C offered a phenomenal reaction on our sport pattern. This pattern requires a ball that is consistent in reaction shot after shot which for us is what the the "C" in 716C gave us on this condition.
