Stärken: The R2S Hybrid Reactive cover has to be this ball’s biggest asset. This is the same cover as used on the widely popular Hy-Road, which makes the Reign Supreme the best choice for those looking for a replacement.
Schwächen: Heavy oil patterns will cause the Reign Supreme to push too far down the lane, making for an inconsistent breakpoint. Drier patterns will make it hard for those with higher rev rates to control the breakpoint.
Insgesamt: We found the Reign Supreme to be a slightly stronger version of the Hy-Road. The Reign Supreme offers the same general look on the lanes with more at the breakpoint.
Comments: The Reign Supreme is the newest addition to the Thunder line of bowling balls for Storm. This ball features a proven cover in the R2S Hybrid Reactive as well as the proven CAM weight block. This core/cover combination gives the Supreme more traction through the entire lane than the original Reign. All three testers found the easy length and strong movement down lane to match up best with our medium test pattern. Cranker had the strongest reaction ofthe three, as usual, which put him playing between the third and fourth arrows, taking full advantage of the aggressiveness of the Reign Supreme at the breakpoint. Tweener was playing right of him, while Stroker was playing a little more direct. As the pattern began to break down, with the strong movement off the breakpoint of the Reign Supreme, all three testers had to move left to chase the oil inside. As they did, the Reign Supreme had no trouble making the turn to the pocket. The drier test pattern pushed all three testers a lot deeper than they wanted to be. Cranker was forced to play the sixth arrow. Stroker had the least problems on this condition due to his lower rev rate. Those with higher rev rates. like our Cranker, who are looking for use on drier patterns will need to look into longer pin-to-PAP layouts as well as raising the underlying Hnish and then re-polishing. Those with medium to low rev rates should be fine with either of these adjustments. The heavy test pattern offered a moderate look for Cranker and Tweener. Stroker needed to scuff the factory Hnish down to a 2000 Abralon finish to get it to read the lane on this longer pattern. The angularity ofthe Reign Supreme may cause some over reaction on fresh sport patterns. Balls that offer an earlier read with more control down lane fair better on fresh sport patterns. Pin-down layouts will be better suited for the Reign Supreme when used on flatter patterns.
