Stärken: What stood out most in our testing about the Reign of Fire was how well it took control of the front half of the lane. Most Storm releases are about creating a strong entry angle into the pins. This ball is still strong enough down lane, but offers control of the front half that we haven't seen since the T-Road Solid.

Schwächen: It needs oil in order for it to perform up to its full capabilities. Those bowling on shorter oil patterns will need to either raise the finish and/ or apply a decent amount of polish to achieve the length needed for such oil pattern.

Insgesamt: The Reign of Fire gives those who liked the core/cover combination of the Reign another weapon to use to help them combat oilier lane conditions. The 1000 Abralon finish gives the R2S cover a stronger read of the front and midlane, with a controlled motion down lane.

Comments: The Reign of Fire is the latest release from Storm in their mid-price performance category. The core/cover combination is exactly the same as the Reign, except this one uses a solid version of the R2S cover and comes from the factory with a 1000 Abralon sanded finish. The change to a sanded solid version of the R2S cover allows it to match up better with oilier conditions, whereas the Reign matched up better with medium-to-dry patterns. On our oily test pattern, the strong read of the front and midlane allowed each tester to keep it in the oil longer without having to rely on the track area. This made the Reign of Fire less sensitive to changes in the oil pattern, which is always a plus. The front part of the lane on our oily pattern never really breaks down, so we didn't experience an), loss of energy from the Reign of Fire on this pattern. The medium pattern forced all three much deepei into the oil pattern, forcing us to give it plenty of room to allow for the strong midlane and overall ball motion. Those with higher rev rates, like Cranker, will find the Reign of Fire to be too much ball on some medium oil pattern. Raising the box finish to 4000 Abralon allowed all three testers to use it foi a longer period of time on our medium test pattern. Those with higher rev rates will definitely need polished finish when facing medium-dry and drier patterns. All styles will find a polished finish a musi on drier patterns. The Reign of Fire will be perfect for Jong and oily Sport patterns, due to the strom read of the front and midlane that it creates. Sport patterns that are on the medium side like ours don' have enough oil in the front part of the lane for this ball to be used for more than a game or so.
