Stärken: This new R3X Shell is the Invasion's biggest strength. This new cover creates a stronger reaction down lane than both R2S and R2X, which is hard to believe.
Schwächen: Lack of oil will force bowlers to choose a different ball. Surface changes and weak pin-to-PAP layouts are a must for high rev players on broken down or light oil patterns.
Insgesamt: The Invasion offers the strongest reaction at the breakpoint and back end of any reactive solid in Storm's current product line. The overall ball motion is best suited for medium-oily to oily lane conditions.
Comments: The Invasion is the newest addition from Storm in its Premier line. This new name is the next generation of the premier line, growing from the Shifts and Virtuals. The new Origin low RG core creates easy revs for players of all styles. The cover is a new solid version called R3X, which comes at sanded 4000 Abralon finish. This cover and core combination allows the Invasion to have a much stronger read of the midlane, and increased back end reaction compared to the Virtual Gravity. All three testers found the Invasion matched up best with our long and oily test pattern. The natural and easy hook from this ball let each tester play the lanes where they were most comfortable. Moving to the medium pattern saw all three testers make a jump about seven boards with their feet, and near five boards with their target. This ball is strong down the lane, and at its box finish is suited for playing the oil, as opposed to playing up the track or the dry. Those who aren't comfortable playing the inside part of the lane will want to Look into a polished finish to create the length necessary to play the outside part of the lane on medium patterns. Drier patterns as well as short patterns will force players with any type of revolution to use Tonger pin-to-PAP layouts combined with a polished finish. The strength of the R3X and Origin core create traction on almost any condition. All three testers found the Invasion to simply be too much overall on our sport pattern. Those looking to use this ball on fresh sport patterns will want to use layouts that offer more of an arching reaction, due to the strong breakpoint and overall hook that is created by the Invasion. If this ball were to perform extremely well on any sport pattern, the pattern would need to be long and have a decent volume of oil.
