Stärken: The core/cover combination is what we liked the most about the Outlaw. This combination allows this ball to handle oily and medium conditions alike.
Schwächen: The box finish will need to be adjusted to use this ball on drier lane conditions. There are better options than wasting an Outlaw trying to make it work for these patterns.
Insgesamt: The Outlaw and Bandit offer a l-2 combination to accommodate the needs of bowlers on heavy to medium conditions. The Outlaw will be the one for heavy oil and is the stronger and smoother of the two.
Comments: The Outlaw takes hook potential for the Sword line to a whole new level. The 2000 Abralon finish of the new Inception Solid Reactive cover combined with the Caliber core design gives the Outlaw the ability to cover more boards than any other Roto Grip releases at this price point. All three testers found the Outlaw to work extremely well on our heavy test pattern which is our longest pattern as well. The Outlaw played five to six boards deeper and picked up the lane even a couple of feet sooner compared to the Bandit. Patterns that are as long as our oily pattern usually require a tighter line with less swing room. Although the Outlaw is considered a strong ball, it had a tendency to wiggle a little when we missed wide on this pattern. The strong midlane of the Outlaw allowed it to make it back to the pocket from many places the Bandit could not. When we jumped over to the medium pattern we quickly learned how strong this ball really is. Some will find the box finish to be just fine on this type ofcondition while most will have to experiment with a smoother surface. This will depend upon which part ofthe lane the user is most comfortable playing. Those who like to play straighter down the outside may find the Outlaw will pick up the lane too early. They will want to try it with a smoother surface between a 4000 Abralon and a polished Hnish. Those with higher rev rates can still use the Outlaw with the box finish, as they’ll start this one much deeper in the oil. When polished, the Outlaw provides significantly less traction in the oil while maintaining its strong midlane and back end characteristics. We tried the polish finish on both the medium and dry test patterns. This finish worked well on the medium pattern for all three testers allowing each to play with smaller angles through the front part of the lane. Even with the polished finish, the Outlaw was difficult to control on our dry test pattern. This ball was simply too strong for this pattern no matter what finish we used on it. We found the Outlaw to work fairly well on our sport pattern with the box finish. The strong midlane gave us a little more miss room wide than we usually see on this fiatter pattern.
