Stärken: The hybrid cover on the Triliptic Core allows players of all styles to see the ball distinctly go through the transitions of skid/hook/roll. Bowlers can expect a strong, consistent, predictable movement at the back end.

Schwächen: Even though it is a shiny box finish, the Infinite Theory will struggle on shorter patterns. Surface adjustments, combined with a weaker layout, will be a must for those bowling on drier conditions. Heavy oil patterns will require some surface prep for those who are rev challenged.

Insgesamt: The change to a polished hybrid cover makes the Infinite Theory a more user friendly piece of equipment. It has the ability to handle anything from medium-light to medium-heavy oil patterns for those who aren’t afraid to move around on the lane and play different lines to the pocket when necessary.

Comments: The Infinite Theory is the latest addition to Roto Grip’s Crown line of bowling balls. It takes the Triliptic Core found in the original Theory and surrounds it with the Insight Hybrid reactive cover. The overall ball reaction should fit right below the original Theory. The Infinite Theory will handle a much wider variety of oil patterns than the Theory. We found it to match up best with our medium test pattern. All three testers were able to get the ball down the lane with ease, while experiencing strong revs in the midlane. The back end reaction was consistently strong shot after shot. Our heavy oil pattern, which is long as well, pushed the Infinite Theory too far down the lane for Tweener and Stroker. We adjusted their test balls with a 2000 grit Abralon pad. This adjustment gave each of them a much stronger read of the lane, creating a much more consistent line to the pocket. Cranker was able to stay with the box finish on the heavy pattern due to his higher rev rate. Despite the polished box finish, we wouldn’t suggest this ball for dry lanes. Those with medium and lower rev rates will be the only ones who find any kind of success with the Infinite Theory on drier conditions. Even then, they will need to go with weaker layouts and raise the factory finish. We found the ball to offer a decent reaction on our sport pattern. Flatter patterns generally require smoother rolling equipment but we saw some potential with this ball despite its strength at the breakpoint. Tamer layouts should only make it better on these types of conditions.
