Stärken: The skid/flip characteristics are the Bandit’s biggest strength. It offers the length necessary for medium and lighter patterns while storing its energy for the back end to make it to the pocket from extreme angles.

Schwächen: Polished pearls hate large volumes of oil and this one is no different. Even with stronger layouts, the Bandit will have an inconsistent breakpoint on the heavy stuff. Slower ball speeds will have the best chance for these types of patterns.

Insgesamt: The Bandit is ideal for medium and lighter oil patterns. It offers equal length to the Nomads with the same strength at the breakpoint and back end.

Comments: The Bandit is one of two new Sword line bowling balls in Roto Grip’s new catalog. These new balls will replace the Nomad Pearl and Solid. The Bandit offers plenty of performance for the dollar and, with the Outlaw, makes a terric combination to cover a lot of lane conditions. The Bandit seems to know when to turn the corner every time. When we needed more at the back end, it gave it to us and when we needed it to lay off a little, it did that as well. The box finish worked impressively on the medium test pattern. The 1500 polish allowed the Bandit to ease through the front part of the lane. The midlane isn’t the strongest on the market, but there is enough which allows the Bandit to read the breakpoint the same distance down lane shot after shot. The consistent movement at the breakpoint really caught our eyes. Since the Bandit worked so well on the medium pattern, we weren’t too disappointed with the reactions we had on the wet and dry patterns. The difficulty on the oily pattern can be overcome by roughing up the cover. We tried a 2000 Abralon pad and that should do the trick for the majority of bowlers. With this finish, we saw earlier and more overall hook because of the added traction. Even with the added hook, the pearl in the cover still pushes the ball down the lane, which for lower rev players will slide past the breakpoint. These types of players should look to pick up the Outlaw for those conditions. Those who want a better reaction on medium-dry and dry conditions will want longer pin-to-PAP layouts. The box finish provides length, but if using stronger layouts, the Bandit will be too strong off the breakpoint. Sport patterns won’t frustrate the user too much with the Bandit. The strong consistent breakpoint was a major asset on our sport pattern. Knocking off the polished finish with a 4000 Abralon pad made the Bandit even more user friendly on the sport shot. lt allowed it a little more traction in the oil, as well as smoothing the reaction off the dry.
