Stärken: What we liked about the Time Bomb was that it not only picked up the midlane extremely well, it saved plenty of energy for the back. This allowed each tester to stay aggressive knowing that the Time Bomb was going to read the pattern.

Schwächen: The Time Bomb’s aggressive nature will be too much ball for lighter volume patterns and will also be too much for some on medium oil patterns. Surface adjustments will help on medium patterns but won’t tame this one down enough for the dry stuff.

Insgesamt: The combination of the new core and cover of the Time Bomb creates a ball motion that is strong from start to finish. This is perfect for those bowling on higher volume patterns or those who like to play the big hook.

Comments: The Time Bomb is the latest high performance release from Lane #1. This new release features a new diamond core design called Hour Glass Inverted Diamond. This new core offers a medium-high RG and a large flare potential. Wrapped around this new core is the Pure Explosion cover. The 2000 Abralon finish of the cover allows for non-stop traction throughout the entire lane. The combination of this core and cover will provide strength in the midlane without sacrificing anything at the back end. We found the Time Bomb to match up best with our oily test pattern. This longer oil pattern requires the ball to read the midlane fairly aggressively while sav- ing enough for the back end. The Time Bomb excelled at this. We also found the extra strength in the middle part of the lane to come in handy on shots that were missed wide of target. This pattern usually doesn’t allow us to miss wide but with the Time Bomb, we were able to do just that. When moving over to the medium volume test pattern, each tester was required to make large moves deeper into the oil pattern. Stroker’s lower rev rate kept him from having to cover as many boards as Tweenerand Cranker. This allowed Stroker to keep his test ball in the pocket more consistently. We raised each test ball to 4000 Abralon which allowed the testers to move closer to where they were playing on the oily pattern. Hitting the pocket was never a problem with the 4000 Abralon adjustment. Cranker still found the Time Bomb to be a tad too much, so we polished the 4000 Abralon finish and it was a strike fest after that. It only took a few shots on the dry test pattern for us to realize just how strong the Time Bomb was. Even after polishing the other two test balls, we gave up trying to throw this one hard enough to keep it on line. When it comes to sport patterns, the Time Bomb will match up best with medium-oily and oily patterns. The strong midlane will give those bowling on sport patterns more miss room wide of target than they are used to seeing.
