Stärken: The Razyr offers easy length with a controlled move down lane. This type of ball reaction is perfect for drier lane conditions, especially on old surfaces.

Schwächen: The Razyr will struggle on any decent amount of oil. Even though it has a fairly strong cover, it isn't strong enough for oily conditions.

Insgesamt: The Razyr offers easy length and a strong arcing breakpoint. This ball is ideal for dry conditions. It offers a little extra at the breakpoint than other balls with this type of core.

Comments: This Razyr from Hammer is the same core and cover design as the original released last year. The only difference is color. We usually don't review the same ball unless there is a core or cover change, but because of a lane machine change and new oil patterns that occurred after the first Razyr was released, we felt it would only be fair to give this new Razyr a test drive to see if the ratings differed at all. On our new patterns, the Razyr performed the best on our dry pattern, as it did on our older patterns. The length was ideal, as was the strong arcing back end for this condition. Just like the first Razyr, the hitting power on this condition was excellent. The difference we did see was on the medium and oily patterns. This Razyr didn't handle the new medium pattern as well as the old one. While this pattern was fresh, the Razyr wanted to push to far down lane, making for an inconsistent breakpoint. Cranker was the only one that got to make this ball hit the pocket consistently while this pattern was fresh. Once this pattern opened up a little, we had a very nice reaction. Our new sport pattern is on the medium side, so the Razyr wanted to push to far down lane on this pattern as well. The Razyr would be best suited for patterns like this, that have had several games bowled on it.
