Stärken: What we like most about the Jigsaw is the ability to get different looks on the lanes with slight changes in releases. This is the case with many balls on the market, but it is more so with this ball.
Schwächen: The Jigsaw was not designed for drier lane conditions. This ball is best suited for fresh conditions where the oil and back ends are both fresh. Polishing will be needed for those bowling on medium to dry conditions.
Insgesamt: The Jigsaw isn't the strongest ball that Hammer has ever released, but it is definitely one of the most versatile and controllable. Between surface adjustments and different releases, the user should be able to get this new release to work on a variety of patterns.
Comments: The Jigsaw is the latest high performance release from Hammer. This new release features both a new core and cover. The core features a low RG and high differential, combined with the highest mass bias in the history of Hammer. The Burst Reactive cover allows the Jigsaw to be clean through the front part of the lane, despite the fast revving core design. The combination of the core and cover allow the Jigsaw to be extremely strong in the midlane, which creates a strong continuous arcing motion after the breakpoint. Both Tweener and Cranker found the Jigsaw matches up best with our oily test pattern. The medium and high rev rates allowed the Jigsaw to read the lane strong enough, despite the length and volume of this pattern. Stroker was able to find the pocket easily enough, but couldn't create the entry angle of Cranker and Tweener. We suggest those with lower rev rates try this ball with a 2000 Abralon finish, which should allow them to play a touch deeper into the oil pattern, thus creating a touch stronger entry angle into the pocket. The box finish will be just fine on the medium pattern for Stroker types. This pattern offered Stroker the same strong ball reaction as Tweener and Cranker had on the oily test pattern. Those with higher rev rates will want to go with longer pin-to-PAP layouts for medium type oil patterns. The Jigsaw will want to pick up the midlane too quickly with stronger layouts for Cranker types, causing a weak entry angle on medium patterns. Patterns with a low volume of oil will cause the Jigsaw to bleed off too much energy for it to be effective. Weaker layouts and polishing will help, but that doesn't make sense to us, when there are plenty of other choices in the Hammer line for drier lane conditions. We found the Jigsaw matches up decently well on our sport pattern. The strong midlane, combined with the strong arcing back end reaction, should allow the Jigsaw to work on a variety of sport patterns with the right layout and surface adjustment.
