Stärken: Bowlers who like the shape ofthe Arson and are looking for a ball that gives the same motion, but is stronger overall, will {ind the Brick to their liking. The hybrid coverstock is very friendly to surface changes.

Schwächen: Short, dry oil patterns will cause the Brick to hook too early. Layouts that use longer pin to axis and weaker mass bias positions will be needed for bowlers wanting to use the Brick on lighter volume patterns.

Insgesamt: The Brick is one of the strongest balls from Hammer at this price point. The Brick uses a brand new core shape, as well as a new hybrid coverstock.

Comments: The Brick gives bowlers with lower rev rates a ball to use on heavier volumes of oil. The strong reaction to the dry is ideal for those looking for extra hook. When we saw that the cover of this ball was the same as the Taboos, we wondered how different the reaction would be. The slight difference of RG and differential combined with the hybrid version of this coverstock really make this ball react a little less than the Taboos. All three testers preferred this ball on our heavy oil test pattern. The extra oil in the heads allowed the Brick to read the midlane more strongly. Both Stroker and Tweener liked this ball a lot. Cranker had to change the surface to a 4000 Abralon sooner than the other two once the oil started to transition. The fresh medium pattern offered a pretty decent look with this ball. Tweener and Stroker only had to move about an arrow deeper to find the pocket on this pattern. Cranker had to make a much bigger move. He was inside the fourth arrow making sure to get the ball right of eight at the breakpoint. The oil up front did not last long for him. If we used weaker layouts, we might be able to use the Brick longer on this type of pattern. We added a layer of Powerhouse Factory Finish polish to his test ball. This allowed him to move back to the right but the breakpoint was still too strong for his rev rate. On the dry pattern, both Stroker and Tweener made the same surface adjustment as Cranker, adding polish. Even with the polish, the dry pattern did not offer much of a reaction for very long. The Brick, polished and with a long pin to PAP layout, will work on a broken down and dry condition but you are going to have some trouble on a fresh, dry, short pattern. The extra help at the breakpoint is a little much for a sport pattern for higher rev rate players. We are sure with the right layout that any ball can perform on a sport pattern. To get the most use from the Brick, we suggest drilling it strongly and sticking to oily lane conditions.
