Stärken: Even though it comes at a dull box finish, the Warning Sign saves plenty of energy for the breakpoint and back end. The pearl in the cover really helps the recovery down lane.
Schwächen: The same pearl that helped us on the back end pushed this ball just a bit too far on our heavy test pattern. Those looking to use it on true heavy oil will want to use strong layouts.
Insgesamt: Bowlers who loved their Signals but want to see more overall motion will want to look into the Warning Sign. Added friction is easily achieved by making the cover hybrid and roughing it up.
Comments: The upper mid price point from Ebonite has offered several balls that are long and strong and one that was fairly strong in the oil. The next offering is the Warning Sign and it features a new hybrid cover. The High Traction Reactive Hybrid 2 cover gives the Warning Sign a look on the lanes that we have not seen from this line of products. This cover is a mixture of both a solid and pearl resin cover. That gives the Warning Sign extra traction in the midlane that typical reactive pearls like the Vital Energy and Signals do not offer. We found this to be helpful on our medium test pattern. All three testers were able to play a small swing shot without having to send the Warning Sign to the driest part of the lane in order to create enough hitting power to consistently carry the corner pins. The 3000 Abralon finish will not create enough friction for a large majority of bowlers on oily lanes. Higher ball speeds should look into a 1000 Abralon iinish while those with medium to lower ball speeds should prefer a 2000 Abralon finish. We used 2000 on Crankers and Tweeners and 1000 for Strokers Warning Signs in order to create enough hook on our oily test pattern. The Warning Sign will need a heavy polishing in order to work really well on short or dry patterns. We used Powerhouse Factory Finish on top of sanding the cover with a 4000 Abralon pad. A higher pin layout combined with a polished surface should create a lot more length with a stronger move at the breakpoint. Our layouts matched up phenomenally with the box finish of the Warning Sign on our sport pattern. This ball created the perfect amount of friction without using too much energy too early. The ball blended this flatter pattern out and made it look like a THS.
