Stärken: This cover/core combination creates a strong, heavy roll throughout the entire lane. This type of reaction eases the complication of moving left as lanes transition. The predictabilityof the breakpoint allows users to know exactly what they are getting with every roll of the Vital Sign.

Schwächen: The strength of the Flexol Super Plus reactive cover is just too much for lane conditions with less than a medium volume of oil. The 2000-grit finish will need to be raised to 4000. Add a generous amount of polish for anyone attempting to use this on drier patterns.

Insgesamt: The Vital Sign should complement the Mission extremely well. When the Mission starts picking up the lane too early losing entry angle at the pocket, the Vital Sign should come in very handy since it is a touch cleaner through the front and features a stronger down lane motion.

Comments: The Vital Sign is the first ball in a new series that will be replacing the Magic line ofbowling balls in Ebonite’s Gold Performance line. The Vital Sign features the new Vital asymmetric core. Ebonite wraps this new core in the Flexol Super Plus reactive cover that was used previously on the Magic Action. The core and cover combination create a strong read of the front and midlane, while retaining a strong and continuous motion at the back end. This type of reaction is worth its weight in gold on any lane patterns that offer a large volume of oil up front. Since our heavy oil pattern has a large volume of oil, all three testers found the best reaction from the Vital Sign on that pattern. The 2000 Abralon finish created the traction necessary in the oil, while the core provided the flare needed to make it back to the pocket. As the oil started to deplete in the area of the lane each tester was playing, adjustments were needed in order to stay in the pocket. As we moved deeper in the oil, the Vital Sign maintained its characteristics. The majority of bowlers will need to adjust the cover of the Vital Sign in order to be able use it on medium volume patterns with a high degree of success. Polishing the box finish seemed to be the best solution for the medium test pattern. This gave us the length necessary for all three testers to comfortably find the pocket. The Vital Sign offered very little on our dry test pattern. Several surface adjustments were attempted and nothing gave us the look we wanted on the dry pattern. When we returned it to the box finish, our sport pattern offered the best reaction of the Vital Sign for all three testers. A ball that offers a strong and continuous motion generally is a terrific choice for flatter patterns and that fits the bill of the Vital Sign.
