Stärken: What we liked most about Mission is that it is strong yet very versatile. By either changing our release or adjusting the surface, we were able to attack the pocket from a wide variety of angles.

Schwächen: The factory finish matches up best with medium and oily lane conditions. Those bowling on drier conditiöns will find the 2000 Abralon finish to be too much. Taking the cover to 4000 Abralon for those with higher ball speeds will be enough while those with slower ball speeds will need to apply some polish.

Insgesamt: Mission combines both a new core and cover for Ebonite. This combination creates a large overall hook potential that is rather controllable for such a strong ball. This new cover takes surface adjustments easily for those needing more or less traction in the oil.

Comments: Mission is the latest high performance release from Ebonite, featuring both a new core and cover. The XL 1200 Reactive cover creates enough traction to handle larger volumes of oil, while maintaining just enough energy for the back end of the lane to get the job done. The Mission 1.0 core features a low RG combined a high differential, which helps enhance the features of the XL 1200 cover. The box finish matched up best with our oily test pattern for all three testers. All three experienced a strong read in the front half of the lane with a strong yet controllable reaction at the breakpoint. The strong arcing breakpoint allowed each tester to play closer to the oil line. That left plenty of hold we could move into as the pattern started to breakdown. Stroker had the best look of our three testers on the medium pattern. He was able to stay with Mission longer than the other two due to his lower rev rate. Tweener and Cranker were able to use Mission with the box finish for a game or two but found it necessary to adjust the cover to create the length necessary on this pattern. We decided to apply Ebonite's Factory Finish Polish to the 2000 Abralon finish rather than taking the cover to 4000 Abralon. Doing so allowed the Mission to maintain the strong read of the midlane but store a touch more energy for the back end of the lane. Taking the cover to 4000 Abralon combined with the polish was necessary for all three testers on our dry pattern. This surface adjustment gave us much more length and a much more pronounced move at the breakpoint. Stroker had the best reaction with these surface changes on the dry test pattern. Once again, having a lower rev rate is a big advantage when it comes to drier conditions. Those with higher rev rates will have the most trouble on drier conditions as usual. The factory finish matched up extremely well with our sport pattern. Predictability and control are a must on sport patterns and the Mission offers both.
