Stärken: The Mission X is extremely versatile. The XL 1350 coverstock takes well to roughing the surface to add traction in the oil as well as polish to create more skid and Hip.
Schwächen: Despite being a strong, high end release, none of the testers was able to use the Mission X on the fresh heavy pattern. We attribute this to the box Hnish that can sometimes vary ball to ball. Do not be afraid to alter the surface to change reaction.
Insgesamt: The Mission X looks to fill the gap left by Ebonite discontinuing the production of the Mission. We saw similar reaction to that ball, with an increased movement in the back end.
Comments: The Mission X is the latest release in Ebonite’s Platinum line. All three testers found the ball to perform best on the medium test pattern. We tested all ofthe other Mission releases on the heavy pattern, but all three testers agreed that at the box finish, their reactions were better with the Mission X on the medium than our heavy test pattern. On this pattern, all three testers saw the same motion through the iirst three quarters ofthe lane as we did with the original Mission. Where the Mission X shows its difference is in the back end. Stroker saw the best reaction on all the test patterns. The added back end had him throw a few messengers, a rarity for someone with his speed and rev rate. Tweener and Stroker were forced deeper into the pattern and just could not quite get far enough left. When Powerhouse Factory Finish polish is added, the Mission X will provide less traction in the oil while maintaining its strong midlane and back end characteristics. We tried the polish finish on both the medium and dry test patterns. This finish worked well on the medium pattern for all three testers, allowing each to play less of an angle through the front ofthe lane. Even with the polished hnish, the Mission X was difhcult to control on our dry test pattern. For the heavy pattern, none of the testers could get the same recovery shape they were seeing on the medium. Stroker was able to play his comfort zone and lowered the box Hnish with a 2000 Abralon pad. Tweener and Cranker were stuck between seeing too much hook when they squared up and throwing the Mission X through the breakpoint when they tried to keep it deeper in the oil. If we had a pattern between our heavy and medium, Cranker and Tweener both think the Mission X would be a ball of choice. Both took a 1000 Abralon pad to their test balls and then could open up the lane on the heavy pattern using the added friction from the track area to guide the Mission X back to the pocket. The Mission X worked fairly well on our sport pattern with the box finish. Stroker really liked the added miss room wide he usually doesn’t see on this Hatter pattern.
