Stärken: What stood out the most to us about the Game On is how effortlessly it floats down the lane and turns the corner toward the pocket. It just reads the lane extremely well.
Schwächen: The Game On isn’t designed for the heavy stuff. Removing the polish will help increase the traction in the oil but will only smooth out the already controllable motion at the back end of the lane.
Insgesamt: We feel that the Game On is an improved Game Plan. The only difference is the cover and what a difference it is. This core and cover match up extremely well. The Game On is one of the easiest balls on the market to read.
Comments: The Game On joins the Game Plan in Ebonite’s mid-performance category. This new release uses the same EMP-l Mass Bias Core as the Game Plan. The core creates easy revs throughout the entire lane. Combined with the large flare potential, this gives the Game On plenty of fresh surface contact with the lane. What is unique about this core and cover combination is that the cover allows the core to do its thing without getting in the way. The Traxion Reactive .042 cover provides just enough traction, or the lack thereof, in all three sections of the lane. All three of our testers found the Game On to match up best with our medium test pattern. Getting this one to turn the corner was never a problem. Even when we were forced to move in due to the track area breaking down, the Game On found its way home shot after shot. Our second best look was pretty much a tie between the drier test pattern and the sport pattern. Those with lower rev rates will favor the ball on drier condi- tions while medium conditions that become dry over time will favor those with higher rev rates since they can get in and wind on it. The way this ball transitions from the skid to the hook and roll phases makes it an easy choice on medium sport patterns. Those with medium to low rev rates will be able to go with normal layouts on flatter patterns while those with higher rev rates will want to go with pin-down layouts to make it even more controllable. Heavier patterns will find this ball set aside in favor of more aggressive balls like the Mission or Mission 2.0. The polished finish of the Game On can’t create enough traction to handle the heavy long stuff for those with medium to high ball speeds. Those with extremely slow ball speed might like the Game On on this type of condition.
