Stärken: The Boom is surprisingly strong at the breakpoint. This strength is a major asset when playing the deep inside line, which is required on dry lane conditions.

Schwächen: The Big Bang XL Reactive cover provides easy length on medium and dry conditions, so it shouldn't be a surprise to hear that the Boom will struggle on oily lane conditions. Medium patterns without a defined hook area will also cause the Boom to be a little inconsistent.

Insgesamt: The Boom offers easy length with a decent amount of kick at the breakpoint on drier lane conditions. This ball is an excellent counterpart to the smooth transition of the Smash.

Comments: The Boom is one of two new releases in the Bronze performance category from Ebonite. This one uses a pearl version Big Bang XL Reactive to give it its excellent length. The medium RG, combined with the four inches of flare potential give the Boom a strong reaction at the breakpoint, with an arcing motion at the back end. All three testers found the Boom to match up best with our dry test pattern. The combination of easy length and strong breakpoint made playing the inside line a breeze. Creating enough angle on the pocket to carry was never an issue on the dry pattern. The medium pattern offered different degrees of success for each tester. A I I three were able to find the pocket easily enough. Stroker had the hardest time carrying on this pattern, due to his low rev rate. Tweener had a little better carry, while Cranker had the most success, due to his higher rev rate. All three testers' look improved greatly after this pattern dried up a little. The heavy oil test pattern didn't offer much for any of the three testers. The length of the Boom was simply too much for this pattern. Drier sport patterns wi 11 see the Boom performing up to standards, compared to medium and oily test patterns. Ours is on the medium side, so we had some trouble finding a consistent line.
