Stärken: What we like most about the Pure Swing mirrors what we liked about the Full Swing. How the Full Swing performs on oily lanes, the Pure Swing does equally well on medium oil.

Schwächen: Despite this being one the most versatile balls Columbia 300 has ever released, when it comes to extreme wet or dry conditions, the Pure Swing will push too far down lane on the heavy stuff and react too strong on burned up patterns.

Insgesamt: Compared to the last couple of releases from Columbia 300, the Pure Swing is cleaner through the front than Full Swing, and similar in length to the Bedlam. We found the Pure Swing stronger down lane than the Bedlam, and similar to the Full Swing in this part of the lane.

Comments: The Pure Swing is the follow-up release to the popular Full Swing from Columbia 300. It uses the same Swing core design as the Full Swing, with a pearl version of the Full Tilt 5.0 cover. The change to a pearl cover is not the only difference between these two high performance balls. The Pure Swing also introduces a new finishing process for Columbia 300. This new finish has Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish applied over two underlining rougher grits of Abralon. This helps eliminate the over/under reaction that is sometimes experienced when using skid/flip type reactive pearls. The overall ball motion that the Pure Swing provides matches up best with our medium test pattern. All three testers experienced a slightly cleaner look through the front half of the lane, with more recovery down lane compared to the Bedlam, which matched up best with the same medium test pattern. Moving deeper into the oil pattern as the track area dried up wasn't a problem for any of our three testers. We experienced the same strong back end reaction and hitting power from both the area where we started and the deeper line we moved to. When it came to the oily and dry patterns, our testers found similar success on both patterns, albeit from totally different lines. The oily test pattern had all three playing a much straighter line through the front, while the drier test pattern pushed us about an arrow or so deeper than we were playing on the medium test pattern. The success rate on either of these patterns will depend on the user's ability to play the outside line or the deep inside line. Sport patterns on the medium side will offer the best overall reaction for the Pure Swing. This ball will work especially well on sport patterns that have been bowled on, thus creating a more defined hook spot.
