Stärken: We saw no signs of an over/under reaction on any of the test patterns. The low RG core, combined with this coverstock, gives this ball a strong roll in the midlane.

Schwächen: Bowlers with slower ball speed may choose weaker layouts so that this ball will save energy for the pins. There are better choices for lighter volume patterns.

Insgesamt: With the performance of the Nexus f(P) and Nexus f(P+F), we think these balls will be the replacement for the Siege and Evil Siege. The strong arc and smooth transition make the Nexus f(P+F) a great choice for heavy and long oil patterns.

Comments: This ball, along with the Nexus f(P), are the two new releases in the Pro Performance line of Brunswick products that use two new asymmetric cores. The Nexus f(P+F) also uses a new solid coverstock. Brunswick is using abbreviations of the additives in the coverstock. The Hrst f is the formula, the P is projection and the F is friction. Projection and friction are definitely what we saw on the heavy oil pattern. The box finish is a sanded 1500 Siaair pad. This core/cover combination creates the most overall hook from Brunswick since the C System Alpha Max. All three testers had recovery on the fresh and, as the pattern began to break down, Stroker’s ball reaction got even better. The Nexus f(P+F) was coming off the spot consistently for the duration ofthe testing period. Usually with strong coverstocks and low box finishes, as this pattern transitions, testers begin to see some carrydown and early hook in the heads, but not with this ball. The medium test pattern offered a reaction that forced all three testers to take a big step left to find the pocket. Stroker was the only tester who was able to keep this ball at the box finish. Tweener raised the surface up to a 4000 Siaair finish and Cranker applied a coat of Rough Buff These surface adjustments were enough to keep the Nexus f(P+F) on the correct path to the pocket for this pattern. None ofthe three testers had much of a look on the dry pattern. The Nexus f(P+F) was simply too strong for the shorter pattern. Even with polish added, only Stroker could keep it anywhere near the pocket. This is not surprising based on how much hook is built into this ball; it is not designed for these types of patterns. Our sport pattern offered an above average reaction for all three testers. The sanded finish of the Nexus f(P+F) gave the testers a strong, controllable reaction on the flatter pattern.
