Stärken: The control of the entire lane is what stood out most in our testing. This is one of the easiest balls to read and predict. Finding the pocket should never be a problem when using the Diamondback.

Schwächen: The Diamondback is going to struggle on patterns that are either short or have a really low volume of oil in the front part of the lane. Surface adjustments will help on medium to light patterns, but that is as far as this one will go.

Insgesamt: The release of the Diamondback gives Brunswick a strong rolling solid reactive in their Advanced Performance category. The combination of the solid Activator cover and the low RG Rocket Core gives the Diamondback the strong overall motion that this line needed.

Comments: The Diamondback is the latest release from Brunswick in their Advanced Performance category. This is the first ball in this line to feature a solid version of Brunswick's highly successful Activator cover. This solid cover, combined with the low RG Rocket Core, gives the Diamondback a strong midlane to breakpoint reaction, with superb control of the back end of the lane. The overall motion of the Diamondback matched up best with our oily test pattern. This pattern usually requires a ball with a strong midlane, and that is just what the Diamondback offers. Finding the pocket was never a problem on this pattern. The medium test pattern forced each tester an arrow deeper, due to the lower volume of oil in the front part of the lane than the oily test pattern. As we moved deeper, we found our carry to suffer, as the Diamondback used up too much energy as it traveled down the lane. We smoothed the cover to 4000, which allowed each tester to move back outside, thus storing more energy and restoring our carry percentage back to what it was on the oily test pattern. Those who bowl on drier patterns will find the Diamondback to be too much ball. Those who are speed dominant might find some success from deeper angles with a polished finish. The strong midlane will come in handy on sport patterns. Controlling the middle part of the lane is critical when it comes to flatter, more challenging patterns. This ball shows a lot of potential when it comes to these patterns, especially with the right layout and surface adjustment.
