Stärken: The strong but controllable breakpoint is what stood out most when we tested this new Brunswick ball. The back end would be best described as a strong continuous arc.

Schwächen: Extreme wet or dry lanes will force this ball back into the bag. The versatility of the ulti-max has the ability to handle some oily and dry lanes, but not the extremes.

Insgesamt: This high-end release offers more length and angularity down lane than any previous C(System) ball. While it’s not the most backending ball in production it is a reaction that has been missing from the high performance line.

Comments: The core shape of the C(System) ulti—max is the new Dual Flip l — Block core. The cover and core change make this ball react differently than any C(System) since the 2.5. The new pearlized cover stores as much energy as possible for the breakpoint. The medium RG core creates a read of the midlane which is helpful for those with lower rev rates. The new finishing process uses a lower grit Siaair Pad and Brunswick’s Rough Buff compound. That gives this ball more traction throughout the entire lane equaling more continuation after the breakpoint. All styles will prefer this ball on medium type oil patterns. Cranker and Tweener liked this ball best overall in its box finish. Stroker needed a touch of polish on this pattern due to the slower ball speed. With this finish we saw what we needed to on this pattern to strike for hours. We had length, a slight read ofthe midlane, and strong back end movement. Pin carry was no issue for any ofthe testers, even as the session continued. All three players were able to make small moves inside and continued to chase the oil. Moving to the dry pattern, we saw just a little too much hook once the ball was out ofthe oil. We raised the finish to a 4000 Siaair pad and covered it again with Rough Buff. With this finish we saw the added length needed to find a consistent strike line for all three testers. On the heavy pattern we needed some help on the ulti-max to get it to the pocket. We removed the polish on all three test balls. Stroker and Tweener used a 1500 Siaair Pad while Cranker hit his ulti—max with a 4000 pad. The balls without the polish were able to read this pattern much better, but all three testers still had to play further outside on the lane. Our sport pattern was a little tricky with the ulti-max. With the box finish, we had to play further out with our feet and target. Playing these straighter angles through the front had the ulti-max storing too much energy and it was hard to control the backend motion. When we moved into the oil, it was too easy to throw it through the breakpoint. Removing the polish helped combat this pattern.
